The 4-mile round trip hike starts out along Westward beach, where you can watch rock climbers traversing the volcanic outcroppings. A paved trail takes you to the top of the point, where you have a stunning view of the channel Islands, and a perfect spot for sighting whales January to April. The trail then drops down into lovely Dume Cove and travels next to the water for a mile or so until you reach Paradise Cove pier. Check the tide tables before you go, as hiking is easiest at low tide.

There's a slab side facing the beach and a steeper side facing the waves (5.9, 5.10-ish routes). Top-ropes can easily be set from fixed anchors and boulders on top, and most of the routes can be lead. This small cliff can get crowded on a summer day. Good for group outings since it is on the beach.
