Take Wasatch Blvd to Fort Union. Head towards the Brighton Ski area up the Big Cottonwood Canyon. There is a parking area at the trailhead. The parking area will be on the right hand side of the road after a big "S" curve.

This trail is close it is to Salt Lake City and can get busy, but most the time it isn't. The trail starts as a paved trail. There are signs to follow to Lake Blanche. The top is a lot of rock that is not very stable. This can be done as a day hike, but more fun to camp.

Best to hike this is summer or fall. If you go winter, or early spring be sure to bring snow shoes. It can be done in the winter which brings a totally different view.
