Take RT 101 across the Golden Gate then RT 1 north. Just past Bolinas Lagoon, turn left at the exit to Bolinas, last I checked there was no sign.
Follow this road along until it ends. Then take Olema-Bolinas Road to the stop sign at Mesa Road. Turn right on Mesa Road and go about 4 miles to the dirt and a parking area. There is a sign at the trailhead to Palomarin Trail.

The hike to Bass Lake will take you past a grove of eucalyptus trees. After you pass the eucalyptus trees you will pass a cliff on your left with a nice view of the ocean.
Go up the hill for about 1 mile. You then come to a trail intersection. You want to stay on the Palomarin trail. Follow this trail until you reach another trail marker that says "Bass Lake". Turn left at this sign and follow the trail down to the lake. You will know you are on the right trail since you will get a view of the lake on your left.
The trail to the edge of the lake is not easy to locate. It is about a half mile down on the left just past the end of the lake. Watch out for the poison ivy. You'll know you missed the trail if the trail you are on starts to go up the trees thicken. If you take this trail it will take you to a clearing close to the lake where most people camp and sun bathe.
The hike to the lake is about 2.5 miles each way. The oceanbreeze makes this hike fairly cool, but you'll still want water.

No real beach found here and sometimes the water is a bit muddy but good swimming. Great place to relax and have fun. If there is fog on the road, it is usually clear at the lake due to it being higher in elevation.
There is a rope swing that is fun to play on. Normally this place is pretty empty. On really hot summer days I have seen about 20 people here.
There are no points within 15 miles of this point.
